Together with team members of the Delta Innovation team in 2024, I helped with providing AI-based UI/UX solutions for Delta Air Lines. The projects include the Fly Delta app live activities on iOS system, optimizing the user experience of Delta digital baggage tags, AR Lab of Delta Innovation, internal volunteer operation system, etc. I had my best time there in 2024.

Project 01: SkyTag - Delta Digital Luggage Tag
Overview
Instead of printing out your paper luggage tags, we invented a new innovative AI solution for retrieving the customer baggage. The user flow demonstrates the experience that the user can sync their digital bag tag with their SkyMiles account, and the screen of the digital tag will show the flight information in real time.
My Role
Created the user interface design and the user flow of the product. Brainstorm the product feature to ensure a better user curb-to-gate experience.
1 | Activate
Get the mobile phone closer in rage to the SkyTag with Bluetooth on, the SkyTag will start the activate process.
Paring with your SkyMiles account…
If the user click “Add New”, this screen shows up with two options - Watch intro video as a user guide, or add new SkyTag directly.
Under “My Wallet” section, there will be a new tab - “My Delta Sky Tags”.
Assign a unique name for your SkyTag to differentiate it with others, e.g. “Black Travelpro”.

Congrats! You’re done with the activation process. There’s a new “Black TravelPro” tab is added to your wallet.

2 | Sync With Flight
During the process of checking in on the Fly Delta app, the user needs to go through the “Select Bags” options. If the user adds one bag, the “Are you using a SkyTag” will show up.
* I had brainstorming sessions with the team to determine how best to integrate this new growth feature into the existing interface without confusing users. We explored multiple ideations and conducted rigorous testing by simulating ticket bookings on internal platforms. Ultimately, we discovered that adding this feature seamlessly into the online check-in flow was the most intuitive approach. By placing it naturally within the user journey, we ensured that the experience felt fluid and straightforward, reducing friction and enabling travelers to complete their check-in with minimal effort.
